Excel Finds Fish
“Today was exactly what we needed,” observed Excel skipper Justin Fleck December 30, “good weather and good fishing. We got into an area with pretty good sign of 75 to 130-pound tuna and they wanted to bite a little bit for us. At the end of the day we had put just over 50 of these beauties in the hatch and hopefully we can get a couple more days in like this before we have to start heading up the line.”

“A Very Good Start”
“After some travel it was good to stop the boat,” said the report from the Independence December 30. “We got off to a very good start early this morning, and kept the ball rolling for most of the day. Quite a few people enjoyed catching their personal best in the process. Most all the fish were 80 to 160-pound tuna, and we had around 80 of them for our efforts. The weather is excellent, and looks to stay for a while.”

Loyal viewer Ken T, up in the Bay Area, pointed out that both the Royal Star and Royal Polaris are scheduling trips to Clipperton Atoll in 2012. Check with these boats for dates and spot availability.
Yes! They’re Here!
The hardcover version of At The Rail: Long Range Fishing by Bill Roecker has arrived. We hoped it would be worth the wait, and it turned out nicely indeed. It was heavily back-ordered, but as of December 31, all orders for the new hard cover book are packaged to ship. If you’re waiting for one, you won’t have to wait much longer. We thank you for your patience.
