“What can I say that I haven't said already,” asked Excel skipper Justin Fleck Wednesday, April 18. “Fishing is down right good. From sunrise to sunset, the anglers pulled on big tuna and wahoo. Hopefully it keeps up.”Excel is out on the annual Ralph (“The Long Ranger”) Mikkelsen 17-day trip, with a sold-out group of 24 anglers, fishing Hurricane Bank and The Buffer Zone. She’s scheduled to return to Fisherman’s Landing April 30.
Good Things Keep Happening
“Another great day out here,” said Independence skipper Jeff DeBuys April 18, “as fishing was great for Wahoo. It could have been better for tuna, but maybe tomorrow. We again got our daily limits on Wahoo, excellent grade I might add, and maybe one around on tuna up to 170 pounds. We are going to keep trying, and tomorrow is another day. The weather is just beautiful out here.”
Also fishing in the same southern waters, Independence will return to Pt. Loma Sportfishing April 27.
